Tour Itinerary
Depart early from Johannesburg as we are going to travel by road from South Africa to Botswana. We make our way through the dry thornveld of South Africa’s North West Province into the vast Kalahari Plains.
Watch the amazing Kalahari sunrise before travelling to frontier town Ghanzi, home to some of the last authentic Bushmen. Stay the night on a Game Reserve owned by the local Bushmen community, which supports keeping their traditions and culture alive through educating their children. Take a guided bushwalk through the Reserve.
Continue your journey to the Okavango River. Check in to your accommodation situated on the edge of a lagoon. Travel through the waterways by mokoro, learning about the wilderness of the Okavango Delta.
Spend the day exploring the Delta, taking guided walks through the inland ecosystem. Watch the sunset from an afternoon cruise, and relax with a drink in hand overlooking the lagoon. You can also take in the amazing views by helicopter*.
Continue exploring the diverse landscapes of the Delta.
Travel quite a distance to the frontier town of Maun. Stock up on supplies before reaching our lodge on the banks of the Boteti River. The lodge has fantastic facilities and is brilliant for birdwatching.
Enjoy four days exploring different National Parks, travelling through the wilderness and driving on sand tracks. Depending on the time of year, you may experience Moremi Game Reserve, Central Kalahari Game Reserve, or Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The route you travel at this time is flexible depending on the weather, taking you to the optimum locations for African game viewing. You’ll stay in remote private reserves for an unforgettable experience.

After a last Game Drive, travel back to Maun and explore the town. Spend the afternoon relaxing or view the wildlife from above via fixed wing or helicopter*.
Relax in the morning at the lodge, or take an optional walk to an authentic village with a local. After lunch we continue to the beautiful Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Stay the night at the famous Elephant Sands Lodge where you can see the majestic creature up close at the waterhole.
Travel north to the Chobe River and enjoy a boat cruise through Chobe National Park, searching for local wildlife. Back on land you will cross the border into Zimbabwe and the magnificent Victoria Falls.
Visit the thundering Victoria Falls and explore the surrounding scenery. There are many optional activities you can experience, including white water rafting, bungee jumping, and scenic helicopter flights*. You are also free to explore the town.
After breakfast, cross the border back into Botswana. We then continue south to the country’s second largest city, Francistown. If you are lucky you will see herds of elephants along the way. Enjoy a farewell dinner with your tour group.
After one last breakfast you cross the Limpopo River and enter South Africa. On arrival in Johannesburg your fantastic Overland Adventure is complete.
