Tour Itinerary
Depart early from Johannesburg as we are going to travel by road from South Africa to Botswana. We make our way through the dry thornveld of South Africa’s North West Province into the vast Kalahari Plains. The Khama Rhino Sanctuary is a community based wildlife project providing a prime restored habitat for white and black rhino as well as other wildlife.
With an early start we set off on the first of many open vehicle game drives. Afterwards continue north into the true wilderness, past remote villages, around the Salt Pans, and along the Boteti River to our lodge in Maun for the night.
Travel back to Maun for your flight into the Okavango Delta. Check in to your accommodation situated on the edge of a lagoon. Travel through the waterways by mokoro, learning about the wilderness of the Okavango Delta.
Enjoy the day exploring the Okavango Delta with guided walks and time to relax on the lagoon deck. Watch the sunset from the waterways on a boat cruise.
Travel from Maun to Khwai by air as our support vehicles transfer your luggage. On arrival at the Khwai Airstrip embark on a game drive to our tents on the bank of the Khwai River. We spend the days in seaerch of wildlife, stopping at hides and waterholes as we explore the Moremi and Savuti Reserves. This is truly the highlight of the tour! Depending on the weather conditions we may venture to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve or Makgadigadi Pans National Park.

Venture quite a distance to the frontier town of Maun. Stock up on supplies before reaching our lodge on the banks of the Boteti River. The lodge has fantastic facilities and is brilliant for birdwatching. Spend the afternoon relaxing or view the wildlife from above via fixed wing or helicopter*.
After lunch we coninute our journey eastwards to the spectacular Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. The golden grass gives way to the stark white pans. Spend the night under the stars (or in tents if you would prefer).
Travel north to the Chobe River and enjoy a boat cruise through Chobe National Park, searching for local wildlife. Back on land you will cross the border into Zimbabwe and the magnificent Victoria Falls.
Visit the thundering Victoria Falls and explore the surrounding scenery. There are many optional activities you can experience, including white water rafting, bungee jumping, and scenic helicopter flights*. You are also free to explore the town.
In the morning travel the short distance to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s premier game reserve. It’s home to over 100 species of mammal and 400 species of bird. In the afternoon search for lions, leopards, elephants, and more from your open vehicle.
We journey south towards Bulawayo, before continuing to the Matobo area. Enjoy a game drive in Matobo National Park and search for the reclusive rhino on foot. Tonight we stay in the lodge perched amongst the granite boulders of Matobo Hills.
Cross the border into Botswana where you will enjoy walking along the banks of the Limpopo River, situated within a private game reserve. Search for a final glimpse of the majestic African wildlife before dining around the campfire.
After one last breakfast you cross the border back to South Africa, with a scenic journey through the Waterberg Mountains. On arrival in Johannesburg in the afternoon your fantastic Overland Adventure is complete.
