The Drakensberg Mountain Range is the highest mountain range in southern Africa reaching an elevation of 3,482 meters. The Drakensberg forms the eastern section of the Great Escarpment which borders the Central Plateau of Southern Africa. Due to its structure, the range’s name translates to Dragon’s Mountains in Afrikaans and Barrier Of Spears in Zulu.
