As the name suggest, the Skeleton Coast is known for being inhospitable, bleak and was given its name from all the ships that have run aground over the years due that have created rusted out “skeletons” of the abandoned ships. This creates for a dramatic outlook on the pristine & expansive beaches that are also home to wildlife that includes an array of seabirds, cape fur seals. Further inland within the riverbeds elephant, lion, black rhino, hyena can be seen and have adapted to this harsh environment.
