The Cu Chi Tunnels are a vast underground network, lived in and used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Spanning over 250km in length and up to 10m underground, they were often dug by hand underneath Ho Chi Minh City. The Tunnels provided shelter and also served as a base for the military, housing weapons and hospitals. Locals would sometimes reside in the underground bedrooms, with kitchens and supplies as needed. Today, you can visit and even enter some of the slim tunnel entrances which provides an insight into Vietnam’s rich history.
