Dali Ancient City dates back to 1382 during the Ming Dynasty and is amongst the top historical cities in China. The architecture is typically Bai in style with the main street running in a North to South direction, with wonderfully old buildings of houses, tea houses, workshops and shops running side by side each other along the cobbled streets. You can view the two distinctive Bai Buildings and their different styles but they both always have a central courtyard. Foreigner Street is also a must-see, providing traditional foods and flavours of the Bai ethnic community, as well as the famous ‘Three-course Tea’ ceremony for receiving guests that includes ‘bitter tea’, ‘sweet tea’ and ‘final tea’.
